On 8 November 2020, the JETAA Networking Session was held online for the
members to exchange their experiences and ideas. A total of 40 people attended the online meeting. This included members of JETAA chapters in the countries under the jurisdiction of J.CLAIR Singapore, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore as well as JET Programme participants from Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, which have not yet established an official JETAA chapter in their home country.
Thus far, there have not been many opportunities for these JETAA chapters to interact with one another, but due to the COVID-19 situation, online meetings have become more commonplace, and we were able to hold one together.
At the meeting, each JETAA chapter gave a presentation of their past activities and future activity plans. In the current situation in which physical events are difficult to hold, each chapter introduced their creative online activities that they have been carrying out, and attendees had a vibrant exchange of ideas.
Out of the discussions the president of JETAA Indonesia chapter commented that it would be desirable to further strengthen the relationship among the JETAA chapters by holding regular meetings from now on . Moreover, a JET Programme participant from Malaysia who was interested in JETAA’s activities was also able to ask more on how she can establish a JETAA chapter in her home country. It was indeed a very meaningful session for the JET’s activities in the all the countries overseen by J.CLAIR Singapore.
In the midst of the current challenging situation in each country due to COVID-19, J.CLAIR Singapore will continue to support the activities of each JETAA chapter, which acts as a vital bridge between Japan and each country. We will strengthen our cooperation with these chapters and continue to disseminate useful and relevant information regarding Japan.
